General Warranty Information

Every Trophy Battery is a premium-quality battery.
As such, we are providing a premium 10-Year Non-Prorated Limited Warranty.

Trophy Battery promises to provide Customer-First warranty service if the need arises.
We do ask that our batteries be given reasonable care and not damaged or abused.

Trophy Batteries are very likely to provide years of trouble-free service.

Trophy Battery provides a 10-Year Non-Prorated Limited Warranty
provided that the battery has not been abused or damaged.

Most battery companies provide a pro-rated warranty which limits your warranty coverage

Some provide a non-prorated warranty for one year, then a pro-rated warranty for an extended number of years. Thus, if their battery fails after the first year, you have limited coverage.

We feel that it is best for our customers to provide a 10-Year Non-Prorated Warranty.

Pro-rated warranties offer little benefit to the customer in the latter years of the warranty.

We recommend carefully comparing other warranties to ours.

Over time, the battery capacity will diminish, but this is natural for all batteries. Even after one of our batteries diminishes to 80% of its original capacity, it can still provide useable power for many years.
Once it reaches 70% of its original capacity, it is considered to be at end of life.

The amount of battery capacity drop-off over time depends mainly on the ambient temperature of the battery and the rate of charging and discharging. We have extensive recommendations on how to extend the life of your battery.

Another topic is Calendar Aging. Every battery’s capacity diminishes somewhat over time, depending on use and environmental conditions, such as temperature.

Since Trophy Battery has no control of environmental conditions or how the battery is used (Charging Rate, Discharging Rate, or failure to keep battery charged during extended storage), Trophy Battery does not warranty your battery’s capacity.

We recommend keeping the battery at room temperature, allowing up to 100F for most of the time. Over 105F ambient temperatures will reduce the capacity of your battery and shorten its useful life.

The battery must not be stored in direct sunlight or any environment over 105F. The BMS protects the battery from charging when the ambient temperature or BMS temperature is excessive. These protection temperatures are far higher than 105F.

Note that batteries at low temperatures (below room temperature) have lower capacity. The battery’s regular capacity (for its age and history) will return after the battery returns to room temperature.

10-Year Non-Prorated Limited Warranty

Trophy Battery provides a 10-Year Non-Prorated Limited Warranty on its batteries to the original purchaser, provided that the battery has not been abused or damaged. Under specific conditions discussed below, Trophy Battery will provide the remainder of your warranty to a second owner.
During the first ten years after the delivery of the battery to the original purchaser:

  1. If any cell fails, Trophy Battery will replace the entire set of cells (16 or 32 laser-welded cells).

A cell failure is when a cell is open, shorted, or will not take a charge.

Physical damage to the cell is not covered.

  2. Replace the BMS if it has failed, or
  3. Replace any internal components that have failed,
  4. Replace the LCD panel if it has failed.
  5. The battery may need to be shipped back to Trophy Battery for repairs.

If the BMS or LCD fails, Trophy Battery will provide you with a replacement BMS or LCD. This prevents the battery from having to be shipped back to us. We will guide you in replacing the BMS. We will troubleshoot with you to determine if the problem is the BMS, LCD, or the battery cells.

It is very unlikely that the battery cells will fail. Our BMS keeps the battery cells balanced and protects each cell against overcharging or over-discharging. Starting out with very carefully matched and balanced cells helps ensure that the cells will not be an issue during the life of the battery.

We highly recommend that you save all original packaging materials. If the original shipping materials are in good shape, they provide good protection if your battery has to be returned to Trophy Battery. Batteries must be securely protected to comply with transportation laws.

In any case, securely pack the battery to prevent shipping damage and apply required battery labels before shipping it to Trophy Battery. We recommend that you insure your shipment.

You must obtain a Return Materials Authorization before shipping a battery to Trophy Battery.
You are responsible for shipping the battery to Trophy Battery’s service location freight prepaid.

In return, if you are located in the United States, Trophy Battery will pay for shipping the repaired battery
back to your location, or to a shipping terminal near you.

If you are located outside the United States, Trophy Battery will provide $250.00 towards the cost
of shipping the battery back to you.

If your battery cannot be repaired, in the opinion of Trophy Battery, we offer the following:

A replacement battery, if a suitable one is in stock,
or a refund of the original purchase price of the battery.

If a replacement battery is offered to match your battery, it may be a battery that we kept in storage, with our team keeping it at a proper state of charge for storage.

Any battery that we repair or replace will have the remainder of the warranty’s original term.

The replacement battery may be new or used in good condition, with a similar capacity to what would be reasonably expected for your battery’s age.

Identical repair parts, including battery cells and other items, may not be available in the future.
As such, Trophy Battery will use its best efforts to use appropriate cells and parts. Since electronic parts are sometimes not available, part substitutions may be necessary.

If the original battery cells are no longer available, Trophy Battery will use its best efforts to find suitable replacement cells. If not available, Trophy Battery will handle the situation on a case-by-case basis.

Despite our best efforts, a replacement battery may have the same or similar power rating, but it may not match other batteries you may have. If not, you must not use it in parallel with your other batteries for safety reasons. We will discuss this situation with you if this situation arises.

If the parts are not readily available at Trophy Battery, there may be an unavoidable delay in returning your battery.

The battery capacity is not warranted as all batteries diminish in capacity over time.
    Cosmetic damage is not covered.

This Limited Warranty benefits the original purchaser. If you wish to sell your battery or your home leaving the battery system, we will request proof that the battery is in good condition. Then at the sole discretion of Trophy Battery, we may extend the remainder of the warranty period to the second owner.

Trophy Battery cannot warranty that the same battery model for replacement will remain available during the warranty period. We will handle any battery replacement on a case-by-case basis.

The BMS factory settings are set to values that help prolong the battery’s life.

You are allowed to change the BMS settings to values that will extend the battery’s life even further. Please obtain our written approval first before making any changes to your BMS settings, as this will protect your warranty.

Changing the BMS settings to values that diminish the battery’s life will void the warranty, unless preapproved by us in writing. This is to ensure that you battery has a long life.

Any of the following will void the warranty as these are beyond Trophy Battery’s control, and are considered abuse of the battery:

  1. Physical damage to the battery, including shipping damage.
  2. Applying an improper voltage to the battery, such as excessive voltage or AC current.
  3. Connecting multiple batteries in series, as the batteries only support parallel connections.
  4. Connecting more than 16 batteries in parallel.
  5. Failure to install proper communications cables between batteries in parallel.
  6. Short Circuits that damage the battery
  7. Unauthorized repairs or modifications to the battery, including welding or drilling.
  8. Use of improper chargers, including vehicle alternators or generators.
Using a proper LiFe04 rated charger or inverter is mandatory.
  9. Charging batteries directly from a Solar System without using a proper inverter or charger.
A proper LiFePO4 charger built into an inverter, or a proper solar charger, or a stand-alone charger must be used.
  10. Improper installation that damages the battery.
  11. Connecting multiple batteries in parallel, which are not the same model.
Please refer to “Connecting Multiple Trophy Batteries” on the Info page for guidance.
  12. Failure to keep the battery charged.
The battery must be recharged to a 50% state of charge every three months if not in use.
  13. Removing cell labels, defacing the cells, or disassembling the welded cells.
  14. Acts of God, including earthquakes that physically damage the battery, water or fluid  damage, physical damage, or lightning damage.
  15. Use of the battery in non-suitable application or location.
  16. Used or stored in a marine environment where salt-spray damages the battery
  17. Excessive vibration or shock causing physical damage to the battery
  18. Used or stored in an acidic, corrosive, or excessively humid environment
  19. Used in any application for which it was not designed, such as for starting engines.
  20. Used in an environment where it is exposed to excessive temperatures (over 105F), located in direct sunlight, or located outside and unprotected.
  21. Water, grease, oil, or other fluid damages.
